Behind the Scenes at Gumleaf Terrace Rooms

A look past the dining room and card tables, to the building’s quieter corners.

Around Gumleaf Terrace Rooms

The card room set for the evening, four tables under the original high windows.
A hand of euchre partway through, cards held close to the chest.
One table laid with chip trays, waiting on the evening’s first booking.
A mug of coffee left by the window between hands.
Gumleaf Terrace Rooms from the street, the old works sign still faintly visible above the door.
A second view of the card room, all four tables in a row.
The quiet corner near the tables, kept for guests waiting on a seat.
A stack of house chips counted out before the tables open.
The teapot set out for the dining room’s last seatings.
What Hasn’t Changed

A Building That Kept Its Shape

Gumleaf Terrace Rooms from the street, the old works sign still faintly visible above the door.

Most of what’s pictured here has changed little since the felt works closed — the windows, the roofline, even the position of the door.

A handful of fittings from the building’s earlier life are still kept, more for the look of the thing than any working use.
